MEMORIAL LECTURE

Michael Hartnett Memorial Lecture: Publisher and poet Peter Fallon will give this year's Michael Hartnett Memorial Lecture on The Hold of English.

GUIDED WALK

The Poet Dreams and Resolves, an exploration of West Limerick's artistic and cultural heritage. Beginning in the Famine Graveyard, Mike MacDomhnaill and Micheál Rowsome will lead a walk through the town exploring landscape, memory, and West Limerick's artistic imagination.

 

Venue: The Streets of Newcastle West: beginning in the Famine Graveyard and ending in the town Square.

OPEN MIC POETRY

The afternoon commences in Ned Lynch's Pub with Ned's annual rendition of 'The Ballad of Salad Sunday'.

The Hartnett Viva Voce - Join us for a lively afternoon of poetry, song and story. Participate in the 'Open Mic' where prize money will be awarded for the best original poem and the best performed Hartnett poem. Prize money of €300 for the Viva Voce winner in the original poem category and €100 for the best read Hartnett Poem.


Venue: Ned Lynch's Pub, The Square then onto the Silver Dollar Bar

AN EVENING WITH AUTHOR KEVIN BARRY AND THE BRAD PITT LIGHT ORCHESTRA

An evening of music and prose, with author Kevin Barry and The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra. Kevin Barry is the author of the IMPAC Award-winning novel City of Bohane.

Arresting musicality coupled with a dark, wry wit, The (very well dressed) Brad Pitt Light Orchestra produce an unmissable vibrant, life-affirming, live experience.

Club na hÉigse – Join us as we round off Éigse Michael Hartnett 2014 with lively song, story and poetry contributions from the audience and Éigse guests.
