Brenda Fitzmaurice

Brenda has worked for many years as an artist and an illustrator. She works predominantly with oils and palate knives but she always has a sketchbook and pencils in her bag. Her work has largely been inspired by the ancient landscape of North Kerry.

She exhibits as a solo artist and in group exhibitions.  Milking the Sun/Ag Crú na Gréine is her fifth collaboration with her husband, poet, writer and translator, Gabriel Fitzmaurice. The much awaited publication will be launched at Eigse Michael Hartnett 2018. It is a translation by poet Gabriel Fitzmaurice of a series of poems by the late Séan O’Ríodáin with original paintings illustrating the text by artist Brenda.  It is published by Salmon Poetry.

Previous collaborations include Twenty One Sonnets, 2007; Poems of Faith and Doubt, 2011 and Will you be my friend?, 2017, all from Salmon Poetry. Another collaboration, The Essential Gabriel Fitzmaurice was published by Mercier Press in 2008. Brenda lives and works in Moyvane, Co Kerry with Gabriel. They have two adult children.
